The journey of a cameraman researcher to the Solovetsky Islands, where a group of scientists from the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences is studying the behavior of belugas. Observing animals under and above water, the author tries to understand the logic of their interaction with humans and with each other — and is faced with the fact that the usual rules of observation do not work in a living, changing environment.
