Ural Shorts

Short films are often debuts, first experiences in the industry — film- or video production. Sometimes even sketches. But these shorts show real pain, real passion, ambition and courage of the authors who are ready to conquer the world.
We believe that there are no barriers to the shorts — neither genre nor geographical. And talented authors should meet with like-minded people and gain public recognition.
A great place for such a powerful energy exchange is the Urals. The border between Europe and Asia.
Maybe you’ve heard that the local mountains have a magnetic effect?
The Urals has been attracting ambitious, creative and self-sufficient people for centuries.
Those for whom mountains are not an obstacle.
Those who create, no matter what.

Every Season the selection committee consisted of cinema and media experts watches privately the submitted short films, evaluates them and chooses the Official Selections. Shortlist will be published on the festival's website and on our social media accounts.

All selected films receive the Official Selection laurels and enter the competition for the Season Awards.
Awards of the Season
Within two weeks after the Official Selection list is published the jury announces the Season Winners. They receive the Winner laurels, the Certificate of Achievement (digital format) ready for printing, and get the opportunity to be screened in a cinema theatre and/or on TV.

The selected films which do not get an award, will not be screened, unless the festival management has made a different decision.
The winners of each of the four Seasons enter the competition for the Annual Awards in 18 nominations corresponding to the Main and Technical and Performances categories. And receive an invitation to the Annual Award Event.

The winners of the annual awards receive the Ural Shorts Trophy. To award special prizes and diplomas from the jury, the festival directorate, partners and sponsors is possible.
