In the autumn of 1942, the signalman Matvey Putilov, risking his life, went to restore communication with the headquarters. During the combat mission, he received shrapnel wounds to his hands. He clenched the ends of the severed wire between his teeth. Communication was restored, but the brave signalman never left the battlefield. The film tells the story of Matvey Putilov's life and shows for the first time the place of his burial, which had not previously been made public.
