Andrey, a student, is possessed by the spirit of an unknown artist, who locks him in a sculpture workshop and forces him to paint. The applicant Danka notices that this is not Andrey's own whim and begs the master to come to his student. When he agrees, he recognizes in the finished portrait his friend Margot, who died during the siege of Leningrad.
