The comedy series is inspired by science fiction B-movies of the 1950s. Each episode imitates their aesthetics and themes in a comical way. The name "Chromascope" is a combination of two elements: the wide-format shooting system used in films of the 1950s and 1960s called "Cinemascope", and the technique of shooting on a green screen to superimpose multiple images, known as "Chromakey". This is how the series was filmed.
